No! It’s not just a non-stop party town (although if that’s what you’re looking for, there is that too! Let me know if you’d like to see an article on that).
Instead, if you’re ready for a relaxing, sun-drenched getaway then it’s time to get yourself down to the Sunshine State for a wellness weekend weekend in Miami. Miami is the perfect city for luxury travelers to visit because it offers great weather, laid-back vibes and plenty of indulgent ways to boost your sense of wellbeing. From five star hotels to uber-healthy restaurants, Miami has everything you need to well and truly treat yourself during a wellness weekend.

There’s no shortage of luxurious accommodation in Miami, but the following are the very best wellness and spa hotels the city has to offer.
This beachfront resort offers the ultimate pampering experience with its sophisticated suites, gourmet cuisine and state-of-the-art ESPA spa. Whether you want an enzyme facial, Cryotherapy or the signature Orange Blossom body massage, you’ll definitely discover a new sense of wellness at this beautiful property.
If you’re looking for an active wellness weekend in Miami, then the Carillon is perfect for you. There are forty fitness classes per day, allowing you to boost your strength and fitness. At the spa you can enjoy an almost never-ending range of unique treatments. My favorites include a crystal quartz massage or a Kombucha facial. You’ll be able to enjoy a consultation with a wellness concierge to decide on the right treatments for you.
I always think that a great spa is somewhere old meets new and East meets West. The Spa at Mandarin Oriental encapsulates this perfectly with its range of holistic and advanced treatments. The Healing Wave Sound Therapy and the Inner Strength Aromatherapy Massage are some of the best.
As for the hotel itself, The Mandarin Oriental Miami offers beautiful views of the Biscayne Bay and elegant rooms and suites. There’s also a chic Peruvian restaurant owned by celebrity chef Gaston Acurio.
This property is an art-deco dream that makes you feel as though you’ve stepped right onto the set of The Great Gatsby. This is apt, since Baz Luhrmann was a design consultant for the hotel.
The Faena is home to the Tierra Santa Healing House. The spa draws inspiration from a number of South American and Southeast Asian healing rituals. It also features an enormous hammam where you can enjoy a Rose Ritual. This involves laying on top of a warm marble slab as a therapist exfoliates, masks and massages your body. You can also enjoy a Himalayan singing bowl ritual or a detoxifying blossom oil massage. There are also a range of cosmetic treatments on offer, including the Triple Lift Advanced Facial, which will leave you looking uber glowy and more contoured than a Kardashian.
There are so many wonderful things to do in Miami – provided you can tear yourself away from your sumptuous hotel. Here are my favorite wellness-focused activities the city has to offer.
There are some great running routes in the Miami beach area which offers amazing views as you work up a sweat. If you like your wellness trips to involve a lot of physical activity to get those endorphins flowing, I definitely recommend running along Miami beach for an outing you won’t forget in a hurry!
If you love cute farmers markets with organic seasonal produce and locally grown ingredients, then you’ll love Coconut Grove. Shopping here is a great way to support small and family-owned businesses and there are some great finds on offer, from unique preserves to tropical fruit and delicious raw vegan goodies. Click here to find out more.
You’ll find a welcoming and supportive community at Ahana Yoga. Whether you’re a long-standing member or simply there for a drop-in class, the team is always happy to see you. A session here is a great way to rediscover your mind-body balance and cultivate a strong sense of wellbeing.
The Sacred Space is a wellness-centered event space which has been carefully designed by prominent architect Rene Gonzalez. This space plays host to a wide range of wellness and lifestyle events so be sure to check out what’s on when you’re in the city. Oh, and don’t miss the Plant Market which takes place at 9am-4pm every Sunday.
Pura Vida’s motto is “health is happiness” so it’s clearly an excellent dining choice during your wellness weekend. It was designed with wellness and inclusivity in mind, and the team really do strive to make everyone feel welcome. All the food here is fresh, healthy and detox-friendly. I’m obsessed with the Hawaiin style poke bowls and the oh-so-fruity Vitamin Sea smoothie. If you’re looking for an Insta-friendly eatery, this is it.
This stylish rooftop restaurant offers a tasty (and unusual) combination of French, Japanese and Peruvian Cuisine. Sunny Oh, who worked at Nobu for over ten years, and Gregory Gorreau, an award winning pastry chef. A sunset dinner here is a Miami must. If you’re not opposed to drinking during a wellness weekend, try the Summer Lychee cocktail, which includes KettleOne botanical grapefruit and rose vodka and lychee liquor. Yum.
If you’re looking to try Spanish and South American cuisine during your stay in Miami, head to the gorgeous and exclusive Matador Room for to-die-for tacos and unforgettable signature cocktails inspired by the Magic City.
