A MODERN GUIDE TO LIVING YOUR LIFE WELL

The Best Face Masks to Detox Your Beautiful Skin

The Best Face Masks to Detox Your Beautiful Skin

A detox face mask is a great way to pamper yourself from home if your spa is currently closed. There are many luxurious face masks to detox your skin on the market and believe me, I’ve tried more than my fair share. As someone with acne-prone skin, I like to detox my face regularly using a mask treatment. I’ve rounded up my favorite face masks to detox the skin and mentioned which skin type(s) they’re most suitable for in each review. It’s important to bear your specific needs in mind when selecting a product so be sure to make a note of this.

Chantecaille Detox Clay Mask with Rosemary and Honey

Luxurious French cosmetics brand Chantecaille uses high quality pure botanicals to create effective and luxurious products. They’re a 100% cruelty-free and vegan brand with strong philanthropic values, so this is an indulgence you can feel really good about.

But enough gushing over Chantecaille; let’s talk about the specific product at hand. The detox clay mask contains absorbent Kaolin clay which is an amazing product for those prone to breakouts. Honey and rosemary soothe and purify the skin, whilst jasmine, narcissus and mimosa flower extract help to create a moisture barrier and keep your face soft and smooth.

This is one of the best face masks to detox your skin. Although it’s effective at drawing out impurities and treating acne, it’s not too stripping and won’t dry out the skin. That’s a pretty rare balance to find!

Suitable for: acne prone skin

Caudalie Instant Detox Mask

Caudalie is a fabulous French brand that specialises in Vinotherapie, which harnesses the antioxidant power of grape extracts to rejuvenate the skin.

The Instant Detox Mask is perfect for when you’re looking for a supercharged skin detox. It contains lactic acid to help resurface the skin by exfoliating away dead skin cells for a brighter and smoother appearance. Meanwhile, pink clay and coffee help to improve the appearance of blackheads by drawing out dirt and oil. On top of this, Grape and papaya extracts brighten and reinvigorate. This powerful product is also vegan.

I love to use this face mask to detox my skin at the end of a stressful week or when I want to look my best before a special occasion. This product punches well above its price tag and has a tenured spot on my skincare shelf.

Suitable for: all skin types

True Botanicals Pacific Glacial Clay Detoxifying Mask

True Botanicals is a vegan and cruelty-free brand that’s committed to delivering natural, toxin-free skincare. It was founded by Hillary Peterson, who made it her mission to create pure, natural and safe skincare products after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer. The brand considers anything that endangers either people or the planet to be toxic. This means that True Botanicals is also one of the most environmentally conscious brands around.

I tried the super gentle Glacial Clay Detoxifying Mask and loved it. However, I think it would work even better on someone with dry or combination skin (I tend to fall more into the oily camp.) The ultra-fine glacial clay gently removes dirt and impurities whilst hydrating and brightening the skin. It also contains plant-derived squalane which is an absolute miracle ingredient for anyone with combination skin. It simultaneously regulates oil production and soothes dry patches, making it a hero ingredient.

Suitable for: dry and combination skin

Estee Lauder Nightwear Plus 3-Minute Mask

Estee Lauder needs no introduction and their Nightwear Plus 3-Minute Mask has long been one of my favorite face masks to detox my skin, partly because it’s so fast and convenient. It’s a light clay mask that draws out impurities in mere minutes, helping to create a more even skin tone. It really helps with rough or bumpy patches, too. This is a great go-to mask for when you’re suffering from a breakout or just feel like your skin needs a little TLC before bed.

Best for: all skin types

Malin + Goetz Detox Face Mask

It can be difficult to find face masks to detox dry skin without stripping it, but this product from Malin + Goetz does exactly that. In fact, Malin + Goetz specialize in formulating advanced products for sensitive skin types. If masks often irritate your skin, this one is definitely for you.

This detox face mask has a gorgeous almond scent. It’s a bubble mask, which means it’s really fun to use. I definitely enjoy the fluffy, bubbling sensation on my skin. This lightweight mask gently detoxifies the skin whilst delivering intense hydration and restoring the natural moisture barrier. After use, your skin will feel clean, bright and beautifully nourished. Personally, my skin isn’t particularly sensitive but it can be on occasion – for example, after spending a lot of time in the sun or during a retinol purge – so I save this mask for those times.

Suitable for: sensitive skin

Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask

It’s rare to find a super powerful one-size-fits-all detoxifying face mask, but Peter Thomas Roth delivers just that with the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask. This triple-action treatment uses pumpkin enzymes and AHA acids to remove dead skin cells and draw out impurities to create a radiant glow and improve the appearance of fine lines. Meanwhile, the mask also contains aluminum oxide crystals which are used in microdermabrasion to polish the skin. The sweet, pumpkin-spiced scent is an amazing side bonus. It smells good enough to eat!

May Lindstrom The Problem Solver: Anti-inflammatory Detox Face Mask

I’ve saved the best until last. May Lindstorm’s The Problem Solver is without a doubt the closest thing you’ll get to an in-spa experience at home. It often gets hot as you use it, which always makes me feel like I’m in receiving a professional treatment for some reason.

This mighty mask contains cayenne pepper to stimulate circulation, which is an incredibly important part of the detox process. It also contains a myriad of antioxidant ingredients to protect the skin against free radical damage, as well as vitamins A, C and E to brighten, hydrate and smooth the skin. This mask helps to stimulate your skin’s healing response, leading to increased cell turnover and noticeable improves in the appearance of acne and hyperpigmentation.

You don’t need to worry about this potent product aggravating your skin. It contains healing ingredients such as marshmallow, charcoal and turmeric to act as a buffer against potential irritation.

Suitable for: all skin types
