A MODERN GUIDE TO LIVING YOUR LIFE WELL

Review of Cathay Pacific The Wing Business Class Lounge in Hong Kong

Review of Cathay Pacific The Wing Business Class Lounge in Hong Kong

Hong Kong International is one of the busiest airports in the world, so where do you go to escape all of your fellow passengers? To the lounge, of course! On my most recent layover in Hong Kong, I had a couple of hours to kill and spent them in The Wing Business Class Lounge by Cathay Pacific airline. Read on for my full review.

First Impressions

The Wing Business Class lounge is actually one of the airline’s oldest, but you’d never know it. It’s sleek and modern with plenty of natural light, as well as cosy corners where you can enjoy a little more privacy. What’s great about this lounge is that it offers guests a front row seat to the runway, so that you can enjoy watching planes take off until it’s your turn.

There are also private work pods which are perfect for business travellers – I mean, they call it “business class” for a reason!

There are also spotless showers with fluffy towels and Jurlique botanical toiletries which leave you feeling and smelling wonderful.

The Wing is smaller than the airport’s other lounges, The Pier and The Bridge, and it’s prone to getting a little crowded. However, the facilities are excellent, especially the food – but more on that later.

Entry Requirements

The Wing is located in Terminal 1 on Level 6, near gates 1-4. It’s for First and Business passengers flying with Cathay Pacific, as well as OneWorld frequent flyers and selected MarcoPolo club members.

Food & Drink

My favorite part of this lounge has to be the Noodle Bar, which serves up some of Hong Kong’s best dishes, including char siu buns, dim sum and big bowls of ramen. I had a pork bun at 7am, because why not? This is way beyond standard airport fare and I’d happily eat this delicious food anytime, anywhere.

The lounge is also home to the iconic 23 metre Long Bar, where you can sip on wine, champagne or even an espresso martini as you watch planes take off from the runway. If you’d prefer something non-alcoholic, there’s also the Coffee Loft where you can find a range of hot drinks, as well as yummy cakes and pastries.

Final Thoughts

The Wing is an excellent place to hang out for a few hours while you wait for your flight. It’s a pleasure to sit and watch planes taking off, and I love how much natural light filters in. It can get a little crowded, but it’s 100% worth it for the incredible food. All in all, whilst this lounge doesn’t quite top Qatar Airways lounge in Doha, it’s definitely one of my favorites.
