A MODERN GUIDE TO LIVING YOUR LIFE WELL

Review of The Pullman Maldives Maamutaa

Pullman Maldives Maamutaa

I’ve been to my fair share of luxury properties in The Maldives, but the Pullman was the first all-inclusive. The resort opened in September 2019, before having to close a few months later due to the covid-19 pandemic. Mercifully, it reopened in October 2020 ready for my girls’ trip to The Maldives and I had the pleasure of being one of the first guests that the Pullman welcomed back. Read on for a full account of my stay.

First Impressions

The Pullman Maldives Maamutaa is gorgeous and modern, with clean lines and an airy contemporary decor. Of course, there are plenty of nods to traditional Maldivian culture throughout; I especially loved the two-toned thatched villa roofs.

The overwater villas are huge and very spread out, creating a secluded atmosphere in which guests can enjoy the ultimate privacy. And of course, the natural landscape is absolutely stunning – what else would you expect in The Maldives? The resort is incredibly well-positioned for diving, but if that’s not for you you will still be able to admire the teeming underwater wildlife through the floor window.

Villas

The Aqua Villa

For the first two nights of my trip, I got to stay in an underwater Aqua Villa. I was unbelievably excited for this experience – I’m talking jumping up and down on the bed – and I wasn’t disappointed.

It was such a surreal experience – like sleeping in an aquarium. The best time of day to be inside the underwater bedroom was most definitely dusk, because of the sheer variety of marine life at that time. It was truly incredible to see.

The Aqua Villa also had an overwater bedroom with breathtaking ocean views, an infinity pool and a private deck, so you won’t be spending your entire stay underwater – I think that would be a little much! It offers you the best of both worlds: an amazing luxury overwater villa and a bucket-list worthy underwater bedroom experience.

The Royal Suite

If you’re travelling with a large party, the Pullman’s incredible Royal Suite is perfect for you. With two stories, four bedrooms, a fully-stocked kitchen, a gym and a spa room, your every whim will be taken care of inside this gorgeous villa. I should also mention that it’s got one of the largest infinity pools I’ve ever seen. This suite truly took my breath away.

Service

The service at The Pullman Maldives Maamutaa is super attentive. The staff seem to anticipate your every need and take care of it before you ask. Our butler knew where we were at all times and kept popping up to help us out, even when we were just relaxing! If you love being waited on hand and foot, you will feel right at home at this property.

Activities

There is a huge variety of exciting activities on offer at Pullman Maldives Maamutaa, and for me, it’s one of the things that sets this property apart. I highly recommend it for active and adventurous travelers.

Whether you want to learn to dive and get PADI-certified, do yoga atop a dhoni, challenge yourself with fitness trails, practice floating yoga or do zumba on the beach, you will never be bored for a second at the Pullman.

And if you want to treat yourself, head to the Phytomer spa for a holistic wellness treatment that will take you to cloud nine.

Restaurants

There are several great bars and restaurants at the Pullman Maldives Maamutaa, but Phat Chameleon was definitely my favorite. It serves up healthy, plant-based cuisine that’s so good you’ll completely forget it’s vegan. You can also pick the ingredients yourself from the kitchen gardens in the afternoon, so this is a true farm-to-table experience.

There’s also the Souq Oven, where you’ll find delicious Turkish, Middle Eastern and Italian cuisines. I absolutely love this kind of food so this restaurant was perfect for me.

For relaxing with drinks and light bites, Sol Rising and the Saffron Affair wine bar are perfect spots to chill out and soak in the beautiful views.

Final Thoughts

Thanks to its beautiful design, stunning scenery, amazing service and generous all-inclusive policy, the Pullman Maldives Maamutaa is the perfect place to kick back, relax and let all of your troubles melt away. There’s a good reason I’ve chosen it from my luxury wellness group trip at the end of the year
