A MODERN GUIDE TO LIVING YOUR LIFE WELL

The Best Summer Skincare for a Radiant Glow

The Best Summer Skincare for a Radiant Glow

Summer is here again and I don’t know about you, but I always feel the need to put a little extra effort into my skincare routine when it’s warm outside. For one thing, it becomes more important than ever to prevent aging with an excellent facial SPF! Plus, I tend to favor a natural makeup look during the summer months and glowing skin is always the best accessory. So without further ado, let’s dive into the hottest summer skincare buys right now.

Moisturiser

Where I tend to favor rich creams during the winter months, I always prefer a light moisturiser in the summer. At the moment, I can’t get enough of Peter Thomas Roth’s Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream. It’s super light and oil-free, so it’s perfect for my acne-prone skin. I love that this cream delivers an intense hydration burst whilst feeling weightless.

If you have dry skin, I have it on good authority that Drunk Elephant’s Lala Retro Whipped Cream is a lightweight holy grail. It contains skin healing ceramides and African oils to nourish and brighten your skin, whilst protecting it against environmental damage. This clean and clinical beauty brand always delivers, and they really know how to create soothing skin care.

Facial Sunscreen

Facial sunscreen is super important all year round but especially so during the summer months. If you’re heading to the beach then you’ll definitely want to pack a quality SPF. If you’re staying in the city, it’s equally important to wear a layer of sunscreen under your makeup, too.

Right now, La Roche Posay’s Anthelios SPF 50 Fluid is flying on the shelves – and for good reason. This light, comfortable cream feels great on the skin and delivers strong sun protection. What’s not to love?

I’m also a big fan of Elta MD’s SPF 46 facial sunscreen, which is a light and soothing formula that has been specifically designed for acne prone skin. If you’re worried about sunscreen clogging your pores, this is an excellent choice. In fact, it even contains ingredients such as niacinamide to reduce sebum production.

Supergoop’s Unseen Sunscreen works perfectly under makeup and dries down matte, which is great if you have an oily complexion. It has a sheer finish and leaves no white cast, which makes it perfect for darker skin tones, too.

Cooling Mists

A skin mist is the perfect way to keep your skin cool, radiant and hydrated when it’s hot outside. Personally, I love to bring a skin mist in my bag for whenever I feel that my face needs a hydration top-up.

Packed with humectant and anti-inflammatory ingredients, the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist is easily one of the best on the market right now. Best of all, it’s suitable for use either under or over makeup.

Tata Harper’s Hydrating Floral Essence smells almost as good as it feels, thanks to skin-soothing ingredients such as lavender, nose and neroli hydrosols. This mist plumps and hydrates your face to give your skin a boost and contains antioxidants to protect your face from environmental damage.

If you’ve read any of my other skin care articles, you’ll know that I simply can’t get enough of Dr. Babara Sturm and the Hydrating Face Mist is no exception. It contains skincare superstar purslane, an antioxidant plant extract which helps to calm irritated skin and reduce signs of aging. And if that weren’t enough, this mist also contains skin-detoxifying ingredients such as lemon, broccoli and aloe vera. Your skin will stay fresh all summer long with this baby!

Vitamin C

As one of my all-time favorite skin care ingredients, I can attest to the fact that Vitamin C matters all year round but it’s especially important during the summer time. Vitamin C is one of the best ingredients to prevent hyperpigmentation issues and, alongside a good SPF lotion, helps to protect your skin against sun damage. It truly is the secret to a young and fresh complexion!

I always recommend SkinCeuticals legendary Vitamin C E Ferulic serum, which is widely recognised as one of the very best options on the market. Vitamin C can be very difficult to stabilise but SkinCeuticals put extensive amounts of research into creating a long-lasting and effective formula. It really is the gold standard!

Face Masks

No luxury skincare routine is complete without a face mask. There are few things better than treating your skin to a soothing face mask after a long day of sunbathing at the beach – it’s a hard life, I know.

The Hanacure All-in-One Face Mask has been all over Instagram recently, with thousands of beauty lovers swearing by its incredible results. The mask comes with a “lifting serum” ampoule which helps to instantly deliver tighter looking skin, so it’s a great option if you’re not quite ready to try a skin-tightening treatment yet.

Fans of clinical skincare will love BioEffect Hydrogel Imprinting Mask. It contains the brand’s signature epidermal growth factor ingredient which is scientifically proven to rejuvenate the skin. It also packs a huge hydration punch with hyaluronic acid and glycerin, which is just what your skin needs after a day in the sun.
