A MODERN GUIDE TO LIVING YOUR LIFE WELL

How to Achieve an Easy Natural Makeup Look

How to Achieve an Easy Natural Makeup Look

Honestly, sometimes I think natural makeup is a lot harder to do than a full face of glam. I can do a dramatic smokey eye in my sleep, but making it look as though I woke up like this? That’s a whole other story entirely. I’m going to share my guide to achieving an easy natural makeup look so that you can convince the world that you really were born with it.

Step 1: Prep Your Skin

Skin prep is everything when it comes to makeup!

Start by cleansing your face with a gentle product. Then, apply your favorite serums and a light layer of moisturiser. I love the following products:

And of course, don’t forget your facial SPF to protect your skin from sun damage. Here are a few of my tried-and-tested favorites that work great underneath makeup.

Step 2: Apply a BB or CC Cream

BB and CC creams are K-beauty staples. They provide a light coverage, helping you to achieve an even complexion and stay looking natural. These products will help you to get beautiful dewy skin and they often contain skin-nourishing ingredients, too.

Step 3: Concealer

I like to apply a little sheer concealer underneath my eyes to brighten. I like Urban Decay’s Naked Skin or CoverGirl’s Ready, Set, Conceal, which is a total steal at $7.99 and definitely punches way above its price tag!

Step 4: Powder

If you have dry skin, powder may not be necessary but if you’re oily like me – or simply live somewhere warm – then a little powder can really help to keep shine at bay. Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush powder gives a beautiful, yet subtle, finish – just don’t be too heavy handed with this step.

Step 5: Blush

I love a Kardashian contour as much as the next girl, but you have to admit it’s not the most natural look. Save the bronzer for glamorous nights out and instead opt for a pretty blush to give your cheeks a little color. Fenty Beauty’s cream blushes are all the rage right now, or if you prefer powder you can’t go wrong with Benefit’s cult classic Dandelion.

Step 6: Eyeliner

Of course I’m not talking about a full on cat-eye. Instead, I like to take a kohl pencil and line my upper waterline. You’d be surprised at just how much difference this subtle trick makes!

Step 7: Mascara

I love eyelash extensions, but when I’m between lash appointments I love the Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes mascara to give my eyes definition.

Step 8: Lip Tint

Instead of lipstick, I like to use a subtle lip tint to achieve an easy natural makeup look. What I love about lip tints is that they stay on all day and don’t smudge underneath a mask so it’s a win-win! Sometimes I apply a balm over the top for extra hydration and shine.
