A MODERN GUIDE TO LIVING YOUR LIFE WELL

The Best Luxury Resorts in Phuket

Isabella standing on the beach in Phuket in front of the Surin resort

Phuket is Thailand’s largest – and arguably best-known – island. Although it has a reputation as backpacker party central, that scene only exists in the town of Patong. Rest assured, there’s a decidedly classier side to Phuket for luxury travelers to enjoy. In fact, I’d say that Phuket is one of the best Thai islands for luxury travelers. It’s home to many glamorous beach clubs, fine restaurants and secluded resorts. Here are the best luxury resorts in Phuket for those seeking a slice of paradise.

The Surin Phuket

Luxury resorts in Phuket don’t come any better than the Surin. I stayed here and loved every single second. It’s a gorgeous resort located on one of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand. The cottages and suites are set back amongst the coconut trees, lending a serene and secluded feel. At the same time there are plenty of activities on offer, such as kayaking, snorkelling, yoga and tennis.

Sri Panwa

Sri Panwa is probably the most fashionable of the Phuket luxury hotels. There’s a decidedly fun, young vibe to this resort thanks to the chic Thai decor and stylish pool club.

The resort consists of private cliff top villas, which come with their own infinity pool and panoramic views. Perhaps the main attraction, however, is the Baba’s Nest Rooftop bar. It has to one of the most beautiful cocktail spots in Asia – if not the world. It’s an open-air deck with 360 degree ocean views. An infinity pool wraps around the deck, which creates an artistic mirror effect. It’s stunning and totally unlike any other rooftop bar you’ve ever come across.

Keemala at Kamala Beach

Keemala is an enchanting resort nestled within the hills of the Kamala village. It consists of thatched roof huts, nest-like villas and teardrop-shaped pods. Together, they form a fairytale village amongst the trees. There’s a folksy, spa feel to Keemala which makes it one of the – if not the – best luxury resorts in Phuket for wellness. In fact, the resort offers three or six day wellness programmes for those seeking rejuvenation. These include fitness sessions, spa treatments and meals tailored to your specific nutritional needs.

The Racha

The Racha isn’t technically in Phuket. It’s located 12 nautical miles south of the coast on the small island of Racha Yai. If you’re seeking escape, this could be the hotel for you. There’s a definite focus on wellness here. The exquisite Anumba spa and stylish OM studio gym are fantastic facilities to help you rediscover your mind-body balance. The Racha also prides itself on being a sustainable, eco-friendly resort.

The Shore at Katathani

This adults-only resort is perfect for a romantic getaway. Elegant, modern villas tumble down the hill of a secluded beach cove towards the turquoise sea. The Shore is all about the art of romance; there’s even a proposal package to help you pop the question in style. There are also several romantic dining spots around the resort, such as ‘the Kissing Point’, which is a glass deck overlooking the Andaman sea.
